Fight against Potieria scrapped
Magomedov's fight against Ihor Potieria at UFC Saudi Arabia on June 22 has been called off, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Magomedov will have to find a new fight after his opponent Potieria instead took a short-notice fight against Michel Pereira at UFC 301 on May 4. The promotion initially planned to maintain this bout for UFC Saudi Arabia. But, Potieria is no longer available to fight due to a medical suspension stemming from his submission loss to Pereira. The UFC is still looking for a replacement to step in versus Magomedov on June 22, per King. Otherwise, he'll likely have to wait for a different opportunity later in the summer or fall of 2024.

Magomedov's highly anticipated UFC debut was a bit of a mixed bag. On the feet, he looked sensational. He threw a ton of kicks from all sorts of angles and consistently damaged Silva. The concerning part was his takedown defense. Bruno -- far from a noted wrestler -- was able to get Magomedov to the mat on multiple occasions and keep him there. Literally any opponent Shara faces moving forward is going to realize that and attempt to ground him. It's really the only option considering how dominant his striking was in this fight. There's a boatload of potential here, but the 29-year-old Magomedov has some work to do.

Magomedov will fight Bruno Silva in a middleweight bout at UFC Abu Dhabi on Oct. 21, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
